Good Morning to all of you out in interwebz land! Due to camera non-functionality I was unfortunately able to only snag ONE photo of my EOTD today. Which was inspired by a summertime sunset. Yes I realize it's only December, but I needed to feel the warmth of the sunshine on my face today! :D I also wore my hair in the cutest messy side bun today.. I adore it! I promise when my camera quits being a *exploitative deleted*  and just works for me I'll show you guys. Hope you enjoy!

Locks Of Love

Hello 'true believers! I was talking to my mom tonight and she suggested we look around for salons that participate in a program called "Locks of Love" or something like it. I'm looking to get roughly 20-24" of hair cut off, and I know there are salons that participate in giving real hair to programs that make hair pieces for children in need. I've also heard that they will do the cut for gratuity..Does anyone know any good salons in the greater Seattle area that are a part of this program? Thanks for any information you may have!
Not the most flattering pic of me.. But you get an idea of how long my hair is :D

New Cut for Mr.KittyKaBoom

Jinkies! Lately.. I think my husband is turning more and more into Shaggy Rogers ... you know... from Scooby Doo. Anyway...  I've been bugging him for weeks to get a cut. Today, I finally got him sat down in a chair long enough for me to take my shears to him. *giggles* Here are a few "Before" pictures just so you know what I was working with..

Mr.KittyKaBoom Before

And here are the "AFTER" photos....

Mr.KittyKaBoom After

I think it turned out rather well, if I do say so myself. I am quite pleased with it.
Its a clippered blend of a guard #1 into a guard #2 blended into a scissor cut (shorter than usual) layered top. I figured, he's not gonna wanna sit and get it cut AGAIN before the holidays so I just cut it a little shorter than usual to allow for hopefully not too much grow out by then. :D Can you see what a difference a hair cut makes on your face shape and stuff.. its crazy huh?

Disclaimer & FYI:  I am not a *licensed* cosmetologist, however I DID go to school for cosmetology. I do all types of hair services/nails/facials/makeup & consultation for friends and family.

EOTD 12.15.10

I just wanted to share with you all today my eye of the day. I was actually one of the lucky ones who found all 4 of the WetnWild holiday palettes not only all in the same place, but I actually got them B1G1 50% off. I was grinning from ear to ear as me and the hubby stepped up to the check out. So, I was thinking of a few looks on how to use these newly found pretties and today I was going for a shimmery brownish fall look incorporating a modern twist by integrating some pretty pink into it as well. I really adore how these compliment each other in such an interesting way, don't you?

What I used:
LA Colors in Lollipop-all over lid & under lower lash line
WetnWild darkest glittery brown from Golden Goddess holiday palette- crease
WetnWild lightest cream from Golden Goddess holiday palette-highlight
True Colors Shimmering Powder in Diamond- dusted over highlight & inner corner
Hard Candy Walk the Line liquid eyeliner in black(no color listed) - lid & lower lash liner
Rimmel Soft Kohl kajal eye liner pencil in Jet Black - waterline
Rimmel Glam'Eyes Mascara in 001 Black

Christmas Spirit

So I hand wrote and got all my Christmas cards sent out in the mail today. I'm not sure how you guys feel, but I personally really love it when I get something like this , so I'm hoping my recipients do as well.  Seems nearly like a lost art getting something as personal and special feeling as a handwritten card. I dunno.. kinda gives me warm fuzzies! But I know some people have a really hard time finding those fuzzies this time of year, so I thought I'd try to share with you all a few ways to keep your chins up during this sometimes stressful few weeks.

Keep moving. "Exercise can be as effective as antidepressants in combating mild to moderate depression," says Dr. Hughes. Bundle up for a brisk walk, swim indoors, or try a gym membership.

Consider a vitamin D supplement. Sunlight is a source of vitamin D, a nutrient linked to sharper cognitive functioning and increased levels of serotonin, a substance that helps transmit signals to the brain and supports emotional health. Talk with your doctor about whether you would benefit from a vitamin D supplement.

Get some light therapy. "Give yourself every opportunity to experience daylight, such as placing exercise equipment or your work area near a window," suggests Dr. Hughes. Devices that simulate natural light can also help. Sitting in front of phototherapy lights (10,000 lux is the recommended dosage) for prescribed amounts of time, using a dawn simulator or setting a timer to turn on a light in your bedroom 30 minutes before you wake in the morning, and installing broad-spectrum lighting in your home and workplace are strategies that can provide relief.

Eat a healthy diet. Complex carbohydrates such as whole grains can boost your energy level and are important year round. Fruits and vegetables of deep green or orange, like broccoli and carrots, contain nutrients that promote better mood and overall health.

Stimulate your senses. Some people find that painting their walls — or even their nails — can brighten their outlook. Aromatherapy with peppermint or other scents can be energizing.

Nurture your spirit. Slow down and curl up in a cozy chair with a good book or a journal for reflection.

Think ahead. In the summer, try to anticipate what your energy level might be like in the darker months and don't overcommit.

Get away. If time and budget allow, plan a mid-winter visit to a warmer, sunnier climate.

Adjust your attitude. "A therapist can help you train your brain to think more positively about the darker seasons," says Dr. Hughes, "which can make you feel better physically too."

Hope some of these tips for staying above the gloom & doom  help or at least inspire you to take some action and remember that the best gift you could ever give yourself is the gift of good health! :D
Cheers!

12 Days of Christmas

So with the up and coming holidays I think I'll start a blog?

Haha! What was I thinking?

Well.. without further ado.. Im hoping that  this can be a place where I can share my passions. Who am I and what are those passions you may ask?

My name is Jeni. I am 30 years young. I live in a suburb of Seattle,Washington with my husband Jeff and our kitty Murloc. I am a Capricorn, and the eldest of 4 children and a lover of many things.
Our Lil Family

I'm deeply in love with all things make-up (addicted to color really). I am currently & grew up in a low income household, which means I am a coupon clipper, clearance shopper and deal finder extraordinaire! I adore baking and the absolute pleasure I get from giving away homemade delicious treats is beyond compare. You can always find me playing video games, hanging out with my family or getting into trouble with my Flame Point Siamese kitty.

'Ello Lovelies! From Murloc!

This will be a sanctuary for me to share my ideas, be generally creative, keep you all updated on my goings on like current crafting projects or baking endeavors. My elation on furthering my gear score or getting 5 stars on Rock Band on Expert. Showing off a few of my eyeshadow looks and reviews on new products I try.

I hope that you all are having a safe an happy holiday season and I look forward to our adventures together!
