06.22.12 EOTD Steampunk Clock

Good News Everyone! A new EOTD!

Today I was inspired by the wondrous world of Steampunk. I was also inspired by the beautifully sparkly Geek Chic shadows I have. I was looking through my stash and thought these colors would be cool with some sort of really interesting liner, and so I made the little clock hands. I was going to add numerals to the clock.. just a few of them.. but I think I really love how this is a bit more subtle. If I had a tiny bit more artistic talent I would have tried for gears too.... but you guys know how unforgiving black liquid liner is! ;) Maybe we'll shoot for that next time...  Hope you enjoy this look as much as I do!

What I used:
Geek Chic Cosmetics: Eyes of the Werewolf - inner 1/2 lid & inner lower lash line
Geek Chic Cosmetics: The Pointy End - outer 1/2 lid
Geek Chic Cosmetics: Ugghhh...Brains - blended just above the crease & outer lower lash line
Geek Chic Cosmetics: Mana Battery - Highlight & inner corner
Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Mascara: Black Drama
ELF Liquid Eyeliner: #4203 black - eyeliner + clock hands
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil: 01 Black - waterline

Lips: Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter : Peach Parfait

Oh mah goodness.. my bangs seriously need a trim! :D Hope you guys are having a great weekend! The question of the day is : What do you think of creative liner? Do you think its wearable or just something fun for costuming? Comment below and let me know what you think!

Good News Everyone! A new EOTD!

So yesterday morning I was listening to one of my Pandora Stations and this song came on. Swamp Song by Tool. Lets start off by saying that I think Maynard is a lyrical mastermind. I adore Tool, always have. I wanted something swampy, dark and full of angst today because of this song. Hope you all enjoy!

Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics

What I used:
Hi Fi Cosmetics: Suicide Trees - outer and inner vee, as well as outer and inner lower lash line
Geek Chic Cosmetics: Ugghhh...Brains - inner lid & inner lower lash line
Geek Chic Cosmetics: Mana Battery - Highlight
Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Mascara: Very Black
ELF Liquid Eyeliner: #4203 black - eyeliner + wing

And I'm Free, Free Falling!

Hi there!

I just wanted to share with you guys the look I created for a contest Geek Chic Cosmetics was having. We were suppose to create a look that had some sort of geeky inspiration for us. Now, while I wasn't anywhere near even in the top 10 of the looks that were created. I was very happy with this look. Honestly, I entered to do THIS look, not to win. I knew my character had more sentimental value to me personally and not necessarily did one that everyone knew of and got nostalgic about or one that automatically inspired makeup related things. I wanted a little challenge. I had so much fun creating this and getting inspired! HUGE congrats to all the winners and honestly to everyone who entered! Those ladies and gents did fantastic jobs!

Now.. On with the show!

My look is based off my favorite comic book character from my favorite comic book series.  Her name is Roxy, but she often also goes by Freefall. Shes part of the Gen13 comic series. I've always loved her. She's spunky and outspoken. She's beautiful and I've always had a little nerd crush on her. If you're unfamiliar with the Gen13 series, I fell in love with it at first visually. I loved the fact that they change artists almost every book. This means your favorite character can look anime style one book and like classic comic book heroes the next. They've even teamed up with Superman!

Here is a list of what I used to create this look.
2FSI - primer
NYX jumbo pencil - Milk (only on lid where pink was going to be)
inner corner- GCC Bubble Hearth
Middle lid- GCC Are there any girls out there?
Outer edge- WnW (Im feeling retro palette) Purpley Pink (Bottom of the trio)
Highlight - WnW (Don't steal my thunder palette) Pearl White ( Top of the trio)
Waterline/black lines- WnW (Don't steal my thunder palette) Sparkly Black (Middle of the trio)
Black Eyeliner- Elf liquid eyeliner black #00908
Holographic sparkle eyeliner- ELF liquid eyeliner StarDust #01116

You can't tell but the pink gradient is lovely & The heavy black outlines remind me of comics!

These are bad photos. Sometimes I wish I had daylight to help with photography. >.<

Hate how sparkles don't show up in photos.. silly elusive glitter.

My original concept drawing. In ucky brown pencil.. but I knew it was going to be pink & black. I edited the swipe out from under the eye in the final look because she doesn't have one, it was just too mask looking or reminded me of "Kiss" instead of Roxy. But I kept her cute freckle dots in there! :D  LOL.

Me holding up one of my books, I added a frame & text to this photo. No other editing, I thought it came out neat!

A small sampling of my obsession.. I mean... collection.

The Finished Product: Roxy Collage
I wanted this to be a primarily pink gradient as an ode to Roxy's ever present hot pink streaks she has in her hair.  I wanted loads of heavy black outlining to replicate the "comic" style. The 3 little dots are there to signify the cute little freckles she has sometimes. I also used a sparkly liner to "represent" the fact that she has superpowers. (She has the ability to control the gravity of herself as well as others. She can also nullify gravity (and float) or multiply it (making objects ultraheavy) ) Remember ... Gen 13 was Wildstorm's answer to genetic teens (*cough xmen cough*) . The graphics and subject matter were quite a bit bolder and this led to Gen13 quickly scooping up a loyal fan base.

So did you enter this contest?  If you didn't .. what would have inspired you? What is YOUR favorite comic book hero?

EOTD 08.01.11 Snake Battery

Hello again!

Here is the EOTD I did to kick off August. I wanted something super dark and gothy today! I think this turned out pretty good. I felt awesome wearing it. Its one of those looks you have to be confident wearing or it won't work for you. It also looked pretty snazzy with my hair which is also black & blue. (I didn't get photos of it though, darn too fast with the cam .. you know how it goes.)  Anyway, here it is.. enjoy! :D

What I used:

TFSI (Primed)
ELF - Waterproof Eyeliner Pen : Outline of blackened area & bottom lash liner
Maybelline - Eyestudio Gel liner (blackest black) : even coat for base color of blackened area
NYX - Jumbo Pencil (Milk) : top base color for highlight area
Milani - Liquif'eye metallic eye liner pencil (01 black) : water line & smudged down to meet bottom lash liner
Rimmel - Sexy Curves Mascara (003 extreme black) : top & bottom lashes
(not a big fan of this product, just used it cuz it didnt matter due to the fact that I was using falsies)
Daiso Voluminous Type False Lashes (#10)
Geek Chic Cosmetics - Solid Snake : All over lid (over black base)
Geek Chic Cosmetics - Mana Battery : Highlight above crease to brow (over white base)

So that's it from me! Thank you all for looking! Hope you guys are doing good. What color/s do you tend to rock when you wanna be noticed? Would you leave the house wearing this look? (& not on Halloween!) Later Gators!

EOTD 07.16.11 Girls Bubble Hearth

Hello there Ladies & Gents!

It's been too long since I've blogged. /palmface Sorry about that. I'm trying really hard to do it more often, however my skin has been so dry and irritated lately I just have to allow it time to heal before I make it worse with unnecessary beauty products. I'm sure you all understand. That being said, I missed make up a lot. So I did today's look and wanted something PINK and completely girly! I honestly don't think this is the most interesting look I've ever done, but it sure was a sight for sore eyes.. litterally! I'm glad I was finally able to put make up on today.

What I used:
Eyes-
Geek Chic Cosmetics Bubble Hearth - Inner lid
Geek Chic Cosmetics Are There Any Girls Out There?- Most of the lid
BFTE Casablanca Nights- Crease
(I tried to use GC-Solid Snake here first, but I wasn't getting the vibrant blue sparkles I usually get with Casablanca Nights, so I used it instead. I ended up not getting the sparkle with that one either though, I think I needed to use more base in the crease to have something for the sparkle to really cling too. USER ERROR for sure.)
BFTE Butt Naked - Highlight

Lips -
NYX Round Lipstick - Spellbound

If you've ever gone a few days without makeup on Im sure you noticed this as well. You think you look okay without it.. but then when you finally put some on.. you go.. well.. jeeze I look SO much better with it on why would I go out without it! >.<  Ha! Im not saying theres no NATURAL beauty out there, I'm just saying sometimes its nice to feel like you look good in a painted on mask. :D

So what have you beauties been up to?  I just put in my first order to 13 Gypsies Perfumery and I'm SO excited to share that when my package comes! If you could get any scent from 13 Gypsies, what would it be and why?

EOTD 06.30.11 Rainy Day

Hey there guys!

I wore this look a couple days ago. I was inspired by the rainy day, October-like weather we were having at the time. Seems odd to write this now with as warm and sunny as it is today but oh well! My husband said "If rain could wear make up, this is what it would wear" So without further ado, my rainy day end of June look.

Natural Light
With Flash, Indoor Lighting
A different Angle (Natural Light)
You can see all 4 colors perfectly here.
Blurred to show Glitter "rain drops"

Staring longingly out the window as it rains
What I used:
Geek Chic Cosmetics Glass Cannon - All over lower lid area
Geek Chic Cosmetics Fear Bomb-  Crease & slightly above
Geek Chic Cosmetics Purity Burns - mid-Crease over fear bomb to create a fogginess.
BFTE Butt Naked- Highlight
Unmarked white with silver glitter pigment. - top of highlight & inner crease for glitter "rain drops"

Lippie- Dark Heart Designs - Love Song

I thought the glitter was a nice touch. Since to me, raindrops glimmer on the skin as well. And let me tell you something, EVERYTIME I break out Glass Cannon I'm reminded that I need to buy a full size of it. Its such a wonderful blue!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Make sure you say Hi! and before you leave, if you could please tell me your current favorite facial moisturizer that would be great! Im having some MASSIVE dry skin all over my face and I can't seem to get rid of it.

EOTD 06.15.11

OMG Zombies!!!!!! Thats what I felt like going with today. I recently splatter painted my nails with a blood type pattern (as seen below) in my excitement for the new season of True Blood to start and I just felt like doing something Zombie inspired today.
I used LA Colors color craze in White & Zoya Isla to create this mani

Now I wanted this to be fairly wearable. I was going to a couple appointments today and I didn't wanna actually look TOO scary. Just INSPIRED by zombies, not to actually look like one. Today, anyway. >.< LoL. So, this is what I've used for this look:

Geek Chic- Ugghhh... Brains -all over lid & blended inside crease
Face Candy Couture- Leaves - Crease
Geek Chic- Galactically Banned Ale - outside edge of lid blended into lid color
BFTE- Butt Naked- Highlight

Indoor/Artificial Light

Natural Light

So what's been inspiring your looks lately? Are any of you excited for the new season of True Blood? I am reading the books also, I'm currently on book #6 Definitely Dead, so I'm ahead of the TV show, but only about half way through the current book series. I can say for sure that while similar, you get a lot of major differences between the books and show, It's kinda neat, since I'm really enjoying both to get 2 different stories with the same characters. It makes things interesting.  Hope you are all enjoying your week!

On a personal note: I'm going away this weekend so I'll be gone roughly 4 days or so. My brother in law is returning from another tour in Afghanistan this weekend so we will be welcoming him home. I'm sure his 2 little ones are super excited to have Dad home just in time for fathers day. :)

EOTD 06.13.11 Frakkin Glass Cannon

Heres a quickie post for you guys today! :D Another look featuring the fab Geek Chic Cosmetics. Loving these colors together. And I really love how the colors are winged out at the outside edge of the eye for this one. :D

I achieved this look using :

Geek Chic- Glass Cannon- all over lid & inner half of underline
Geek Chic- Frakkin Toaster- Crease & outer half of underline
BFTE- Butt Naked- Highlight
Geek Chic- Mana Battery- inner corner sparkly

So I have to say I never thought I'd enjoy a baby blue as much as I loved this. Its very cool looking. Especially when paired with something dark and smokey. So what do you guys think? I've also been hauling some OHWTO lately. Trying out the black magic soap... so we'll see how that goes. Loving the scent sticks I got. My favorite has to be Carnivale, and best of all my husband loves it too!

Have you tried OHWTO? Is there anything I MUST smell when she gets back up and running? (I currently have coven, carnivale, pink lady, vanillology1 & yuzu) Thanks for stopping by! *hugs*

Geek Chic Swatches FTW

Ciao Bellas! I hope that this blog post finds you well!  My Geek Chic package arrived in the mail yesterday and I'm sad to say (for my pocketbooks sake) that I really love every color I got!!!! Haha! [Epic Win]

I just wanted to post this really quickly, to show you what I got and let you know they are currently having a sale for 25% off until Monday night! Go to Geek Chic Use coupon code "memday25" and go scoop up a few of these beauties while they are on sale.

I'll be doing a a few looks with these a little later, but for now.. here's a look at the pretty colors! /happydance.

**All swatches are on bare skin, no primer/not wet** (Click on photos to increase size)

No Flash, Natural Light
From Left to Right
Top Row: Ugghhh Brains, Game Over, Galactically Banned Ale (GO BOLDY collection), Glass Cannon
Middle Row: Eyes of the Werewolf, Fear Bomb, Purity Burns, Viking King
Bottom Row: Bubble Hearth, Are there any girls out there, Mana Battery, Frakkin Toaster, Solid Snake

No Flash, Natural Light

Taken with flash to show pretty sparklies!
My single "complaint" if you can even call it that, is that I didn't even get ONE business card. Maybe they are out or something? So... How am I suppose to suggest these beauties when all the girls @ AFK TAVERN wanna get their nerdy little hands on these? I think Geek Chic should team up with AFK and sell their products there! No shipping time is okay with me! *hint, hint*

Oh yeah.. I wanted to mention I had ZERO explosions happen, but I tried to avoid that by paying a little more and going with the bubble mailer.. *i has uber protecktion wif mah bubblez* (did I really compare an envelope to a Pally buff /sigh.. sometimes I think I need professional help. LoL) There are a few colors that didn't photograph as nicely as they look in person which is sad, however I can say that I am not disappointed with ANY of them. I am also looking forward to seeing the new "Go Boldly" (Trekkie inspired collection!) when it comes out in the near future as well! So nice of them to include a little teaser in my package from that!

SO.... How'd I do? I'm still learning the art of swatch photography. Do you have any tips for me?  Did I miss out on your favorite Geek Chic color? What is your favorite?  Any color combos you guys wanna see in an upcoming look? Just make your requests known down below. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!  Later Gators!
