Darling Girls POTW 3! Jack's Lantern

This is my favorite time of year. The chill in the air, the smell of wet dirt and concrete. PUMPKIN ALL THE THINGS!!! The excitement of holidays to come. It's magical. I know Halloween is still a few weeks off but my pick this week was certainly influenced by it. I was originally going to do something a little more art than wearable. I mean, tis the season! But.. I ended up with something I consider tame, and very wearable.

POTW means I get to choose one of my most favorite shades to go on SALE for all of you beauties to purchase this week only!

My pick of the week is :
Jack's Lantern

This is a must have, staple DG shade. It's a gorgeous blackened purple with a coppery shimmer & metallic reddish-purple glow. I think it's just perfect for fall.

What I used:
BFTE: Starstruck - high crease & inner lower lash line
Darling Girl Cosmetics: Jack's Lantern - crease & outer 1/3 of lid , outer lower lash line
Sugarpill Cosmetics: Poison Plum - center of lid (as base)
Darling Girl Costmetics: Basket Case - center of lid
Darling Girl Cosmetics: Mischievous - inner lid
Darling Girl Cosmetics: Dice - highlight
NYX Jumbo Pencil : Milk - base under outer 2/3 of lid & highlight
Darling Girl Cosmetics Glitter Glue - over & under (very light foil) Jack's Lantern

Physician's Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum : Ultra Black -Eyeliner
Wet n Wild MegaEyes Creme Eyeliner: Black - waterline
Maybelline The Mega Plush Volum Express Mascara: Very Black

I'd like to take a moment to say sorry for my absence. I really do miss blogging. But I am in serious need of a new camera. The one I have makes it VERY difficult to blog, and so I end up procrastinating and not doing it at all because it's a pain. I mean, this blog was created for me to enjoy and have fun doing right? :D I am asking Santa Claus for a new camera for Christmas and hoping to be getting back to blogging regularly very soon. I miss you guys!

OH! I have been posting my EOTD and FOTD pics on Instagram so if you'd like to see more looks regularly you can follow me there : KittyKaBoom
I'd just love to be able to interact with you guys on a more regular basis and that's a great way, since I post new photos almost daily there.

So go snag your POTW shade now while it's on SALE! And if I don't see you again before, Have a Happy Halloween and go get out all your makeup and play in it even if you're just spending the night at home with Charlie Brown & the Great Pumpkin. :D

EOTD: 04.12.13 Black Savage

Good News Everyone! A new EOTD!

Today I went for something a little dolly goth. I really love how it turned out. The next time I do something like this I think I'll try a nice harsh outside edge to define a neat geometrical shape :D Just took a few quick snapshots today to get something posted cuz it's been far too long!

What I used:
Darling Girl Cosmetics: Sweet Savage - lid
Darling Girl Cosmetics: Black Forest - inner crease on top of black.
BFTE Cosmetics: Black - crease

Physician's Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum : Ultra Black - Lid Eyeliner
Wet n Wild MegaEyes Crème Eyeliner : Black - Waterline
Maybelline The Mega Plush Volum Express Mascara: Very Black

I really love how Black Forest not only added lovely sparkle to an otherwise purely matte look, but it also transformed the black into a sort of violet shade.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a great weekend!

NTMS: Butterflies

Never Too Much Sparkle Facebook Group Challenge:
Theme: BUTTERFLIES

For Challenges I'm not going to list off products used. It will just be a photo entry for the most part and how I was influenced by the challenge. If you are curious about a particular item I used, please feel free to comment below and I'll do my best to answer!

My influence: Uh.. a butterfly of course! :D I used a lot of duochromes and glitter because I think butterflies are just so pretty and ethereal. I think this look pretty much speaks for itself. So I'll just let it do the talking this time. Hope you guys enjoy this look! Let me know what you think in the comments below!

EOTD 03.08.12 Sweet n Spicy Truffle

Good News Everyone! A new EOTD!

Today I was feeling kinda "normal". I wanted something really pretty, neutral, and sweet. Then I remembered a really great mini collection from Beauty From the Earth. Its called The Blushing Bride and I thought it would be perfect for today. I had most of the colors so I thought I'd give it a go.

What I used:
TFSI - Primer
Beauty From the Earth: Beautiful - Highlight
Beauty From the Earth: Sweet n Spicy - all over lid & inner 1/2 lower lash line
Beauty From the Earth: Truffle - crease (slightly heavier in outer Vee) & outer 1/2 lower lash line
Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Mascara: Very Black
ELF Liquid Eyeliner: #4203 black - eyeliner + wing
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil: 01 Black - waterline
Evil Shades Cosmetics: Feline's Kyss - lips

I wear glasses, so I thought I'd show you guys what it looked like with them on.
I think this turned out alright. Although I wish I would have stayed in my true crease. Because my eyes are fairly hooded, I tend to do a faux crease up above my natural crease line to make it look like I've got larger lids than I actually do. Most of the time this method works pretty well for me.. but compared to the original look. I really think the original wins hands down here. Which I think was done by The Daily Glamour. So thanks for looking today guys. Hope your week went well. What are your plans for this weekend? Don't forget to spring fwd on Saturday night (early Sunday morning) here in (most states) of the US. :D

Black & Virgin Rose

Hello Beautiful Beasties!

So todays post is one I've been meaning to get done for awhile now. ... By awhile I mean .. since the end of October. I know, I know. I've been a slacker. :(  Anyhoos..  I've gone and changed out the blue in my hair for a bright magenta and I just wanted to show you all the results. Back in March I did a Black & Blue post that describes how I dye my hair.  Please refer to that post for the methods I use to dye. I will however list the products I've used for this application down below.

This is what I've used:
1 tint brush
1 tint bowl
3 pair gloves
1 RGC packette
1 packette Prism Lights blue lightener (bleach)
roughly 3.5 oz 40 Vol creme developer (peroxide) *please be aware anything stronger than 30 vol should typically NOT be used on the scalp
1 box Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Color BL21 (Blue Black)
1 bottle SE Hair Dye Virgin Rose
Blue tinted bleach w/ RG corrector and 40 Vol developer
Just a note here on changing black dyes. The Feria I was using faded extraordinarily fast. Way quicker than the semi-perm blue dye, which is a shame. I went with Garnier this time after doing some research and this one seems to be holding up pretty good as it's been in now since October and has normal wear/minimal fading.
Processing Special Effects in Virgin Rose. Its okay for it to touch the newly dyed black hair because its so dark, it should only slightly tint that hair IF it even does that. But beware of using this process if your dying over ANY other color than dark black hair.
A note on Special Effects dyes: I still love them. This is the 3rd time in my life I've used Virgin Rose. Its SO pretty. A nice in between shade if you can't decide between pink & purple. Its also very vibrant without being too in your face against the black dye. I wish they had a wider range of colors to choose from, as I've been through them all quite a few times. But I'm glad they haven't lost sight of quality control. I think a lot of companies market their products for rebellious tweens/teens. Heck.. I use to change my hair color once every few weeks when I had UBER short hair. But I like to keep it longer and healthier now. And also, because I'm a bit older I really appreciate the quality of this product compared to ... Manic Panic for instance. They have LOVELY colors and SO many to pick from.. but the quality just isn't there. I've used them too many times and gotten something that the fade out color is some pukey gross color that makes me wish I'd never dyed it 3 weeks before. So when you're choosing your dye, make sure you're getting a decent quality product, not just the COLOR you love. :)

Ok so now onto the fun stuff.

Before: Can you believe I did this in MARCH! :D LOVE that staying power! My black looks brown though. :(
Bleached out/ freshly dyed black. My bleach job was sloppy. I have some unevenness.. but its okay!
Final Product. Aw .. isn't it pretty?
Thanks to my friend Adrian. He morphed my photos together into one awesome patriotic mashup. LoL!
Fin! :D Ack! Nakie face tho!
This is a look I called Violet Vampire. I did it for a NTMS weekly challenge. I will be posting it next time. Im still processing through the photos, but look for it soonly! I really like how it turned out!
Okay. So there's my most recent hair journey. I honestly would really like another hair cut soon. I want something like what I had done before. Kinda a shaggy bottom bob. LoL! I love texture! Maybe something right below the jaw line? Above my shoulders? Hrm.. what you do think? Thanks for looking and have a great day!

EOTD 10.17.11 Holy Shift!

Good News Everyone! A new EOTD!

Today I wanted something purple and pink. Pretty and feminine. I'm getting inspired with all these beautiful breast cancer awareness pink eye looks lately! I just couldn't help myself! I loved how this turned out. My husband even said... "Eye of the day, that's so pretty it should be eye of the month!" :D I think if HE'S noticing, it's gotta be a good one right? LoL!

What I used:
Rock A Betty Beauty: Death Becomes Her - high crease area
My Pretty Zombie: Mad Cow - Outer 1/4 lid, crease & 1/2 outer lower lash line
My Pretty Zombie: MNG no.3 - Inner 3/4 lid
Brazen Cosmetics: Millennium - Inner corner (tear duct) & 1/2 inner lower lash line
Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Mascara: Very Black
Milani Infinite Liquid Eye Liner: 05 Everlast - liner & wing
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil: 01 Black - waterline
Brazen Cosmetics Passion Pot Lip Gloss: Peep Show - lips

So what are some of your favorite shifting shadows? If you could create your own personal shifter which colors would you like to see together? Thanks for reading!

And I'm Free, Free Falling!

Hi there!

I just wanted to share with you guys the look I created for a contest Geek Chic Cosmetics was having. We were suppose to create a look that had some sort of geeky inspiration for us. Now, while I wasn't anywhere near even in the top 10 of the looks that were created. I was very happy with this look. Honestly, I entered to do THIS look, not to win. I knew my character had more sentimental value to me personally and not necessarily did one that everyone knew of and got nostalgic about or one that automatically inspired makeup related things. I wanted a little challenge. I had so much fun creating this and getting inspired! HUGE congrats to all the winners and honestly to everyone who entered! Those ladies and gents did fantastic jobs!

Now.. On with the show!

My look is based off my favorite comic book character from my favorite comic book series.  Her name is Roxy, but she often also goes by Freefall. Shes part of the Gen13 comic series. I've always loved her. She's spunky and outspoken. She's beautiful and I've always had a little nerd crush on her. If you're unfamiliar with the Gen13 series, I fell in love with it at first visually. I loved the fact that they change artists almost every book. This means your favorite character can look anime style one book and like classic comic book heroes the next. They've even teamed up with Superman!

Here is a list of what I used to create this look.
2FSI - primer
NYX jumbo pencil - Milk (only on lid where pink was going to be)
inner corner- GCC Bubble Hearth
Middle lid- GCC Are there any girls out there?
Outer edge- WnW (Im feeling retro palette) Purpley Pink (Bottom of the trio)
Highlight - WnW (Don't steal my thunder palette) Pearl White ( Top of the trio)
Waterline/black lines- WnW (Don't steal my thunder palette) Sparkly Black (Middle of the trio)
Black Eyeliner- Elf liquid eyeliner black #00908
Holographic sparkle eyeliner- ELF liquid eyeliner StarDust #01116

You can't tell but the pink gradient is lovely & The heavy black outlines remind me of comics!

These are bad photos. Sometimes I wish I had daylight to help with photography. >.<

Hate how sparkles don't show up in photos.. silly elusive glitter.

My original concept drawing. In ucky brown pencil.. but I knew it was going to be pink & black. I edited the swipe out from under the eye in the final look because she doesn't have one, it was just too mask looking or reminded me of "Kiss" instead of Roxy. But I kept her cute freckle dots in there! :D  LOL.

Me holding up one of my books, I added a frame & text to this photo. No other editing, I thought it came out neat!

A small sampling of my obsession.. I mean... collection.

The Finished Product: Roxy Collage
I wanted this to be a primarily pink gradient as an ode to Roxy's ever present hot pink streaks she has in her hair.  I wanted loads of heavy black outlining to replicate the "comic" style. The 3 little dots are there to signify the cute little freckles she has sometimes. I also used a sparkly liner to "represent" the fact that she has superpowers. (She has the ability to control the gravity of herself as well as others. She can also nullify gravity (and float) or multiply it (making objects ultraheavy) ) Remember ... Gen 13 was Wildstorm's answer to genetic teens (*cough xmen cough*) . The graphics and subject matter were quite a bit bolder and this led to Gen13 quickly scooping up a loyal fan base.

So did you enter this contest?  If you didn't .. what would have inspired you? What is YOUR favorite comic book hero?
