Glamour Girls POTW 2! Into Darkness

I'm very excited this week for many reasons. Firstly, it's my turn for Darling Girl Cosmetics' Pick of the Week! Secondly, it's a fabulous week for sci-fi nerds everywhere with the season 7 finale of Doctor Who on Saturday as well as the opening of the new Star Trek movie on Friday. Which is what I'm celebrating with my look this week. I wanted something I could wear to "Into Darkness" that would be sci-fi/ spacey looking without being blatantly "Star Trek" looking. I think I pulled off exactly what I wanted. (There's nothing wrong with blatant adaptations, it just wasn't what I was going for this time ) Ever since I saw the first little teaser trailer, I was squeeing like any fangirl would. and OMG did you get to see the extra long, extended trailer I saw prior to the first part of "The Hobbit" film, *drool* I was salivating, I had hoped it was some sort of mix up and we were getting a super secret double feature. Nope.  Needless to say.. I'm stoked to see the movie. I'll be wearing this look to see the film.
POTW means I get to choose one of my most favorite shades to go on SALE for all of you beauties to purchase this week only!

My pick of the week is :
Lizard Spock
I've used this shade so many times in so many looks. It's so lovely, especially with hazel or brown eyes. Heck as long as you have eyes it'll make 'em look pretty! (I'm looking at you visor wearers! *wink*) It's not only the perfect shade of med -dark green, its golden sparkle and awesome metallic flashes when foiled is just spectacular. It's a logical choice Captain.

What I used:
BFTE: Starstruck - high crease & inner lower lash line
Darling Girl Cosmetics: It's Showtime - lower crease
Wet n Wild MegaEyes Creme Eyeliner: Black -base
Darling Girl Cosmetics: Lizard Spock - inner 1/2 lid and outer lower lash line
Darling Girl Cosmetics: Bioexorcist - outer 1/2 lid
Darling Girl Cosmetics: Aziza - middle spot accent (no base, foiled over Darling Girl Glitter Glue)
Darling Girl Cosmetics: Corpse Candle - Highlight

Wet n Wild MegaEyes Creme Eyeliner: Black - waterline
Maybelline The Mega Plush Volum Express Mascara: Very Black

And just to make sure my look is complete and spaced out:

Nails: Zoya : Storm
(scattered holographic black, SO - so gorgeous! I think Uhura would look AWESOME in this shade)

Necklace: The KaBoom Nebula - by: Whimsy Beading
(See the birth story of this sparkly, based on my favorite nebulae + see photos and read my review HERE )

Wrist watch:
1998 Star Trek Collectible Watch,
with U.S.S Enterprise (NCC-1701) second hand that orbits around the watch

*** Why yes... it does play the theme song! *wink*

Oh what? You came here for my eye look. LoL.. okay okay.. here's my makeup look! FINALLY.

Natural Light

Flash

"The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one." a great Vulcan once said.. and  Lizard Spock is a shade MANY should have.. so I thought it was perfectly logical for it to be my choice for POTW! :D  *GO GET YOUR NERD GIRL ON!* wheeeeeee!

Indoor Light. (I think this one shows the colors the best)

EOTD: 04.12.13 Black Savage

Good News Everyone! A new EOTD!

Today I went for something a little dolly goth. I really love how it turned out. The next time I do something like this I think I'll try a nice harsh outside edge to define a neat geometrical shape :D Just took a few quick snapshots today to get something posted cuz it's been far too long!

What I used:
Darling Girl Cosmetics: Sweet Savage - lid
Darling Girl Cosmetics: Black Forest - inner crease on top of black.
BFTE Cosmetics: Black - crease

Physician's Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum : Ultra Black - Lid Eyeliner
Wet n Wild MegaEyes Crème Eyeliner : Black - Waterline
Maybelline The Mega Plush Volum Express Mascara: Very Black

I really love how Black Forest not only added lovely sparkle to an otherwise purely matte look, but it also transformed the black into a sort of violet shade.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all have a great weekend!

NTMS: Video Games

Never Too Much Sparkle Facebook Group Challenge:
Theme: Video Games

For Challenges I'm not going to list off products used. It will just be a photo entry for the most part and how I was influenced by the challenge. If you are curious about a particular item I used, please feel free to comment below and I'll do my best to answer!

My influence: Diablo III. I first played Diablo on the Playstation. (In fact I still have that disc laying around here somewhere). Its a hack and slash / dungeon crawler style RPG.I've waited 11 long years for this 3rd installment of Diablo to be released and so I stayed up on the night of May 15th 2012 for its launch. . . Say hello to my friend error 37. I continued to be bugged for the remainder of the 15th. I think I got all of about 20 mins of gameplay. But it seems to be working fine now. :D I wanted my look to be dark and demonic. I think I've achieved that. BTW.. My photos are not "shopped", I just rolled my eyes back and snapped a pic. I think it looks uber freaky. Enjoy.

Saved my favorite photo for last! :D So.... what do you think? I'd love to do more game inspired looks. I had SO many ideas for this weeks challenge.

My influence: I was inspired by a Yin Yang. Ive always identified with this symbol. The idea that opposites only exist in relation to each other or basically there is no light without dark ect. I believe there is a harmony that hangs in this balance. My look is only suppose to be reminiscent of the symbol, not a replica. Thank you for looking :)

Splash stuff has anyone tried it out? Let me know thanks guys! :D I know I don't do full special effects Halloween makeup.. but would you guys like to see more dark/dramatic "wearable" makeup like this?  Thanks for reading you beautiful beasties! /hugs all around!

EOTD 08.01.11 Snake Battery

Hello again!

Here is the EOTD I did to kick off August. I wanted something super dark and gothy today! I think this turned out pretty good. I felt awesome wearing it. Its one of those looks you have to be confident wearing or it won't work for you. It also looked pretty snazzy with my hair which is also black & blue. (I didn't get photos of it though, darn too fast with the cam .. you know how it goes.)  Anyway, here it is.. enjoy! :D

What I used:

TFSI (Primed)
ELF - Waterproof Eyeliner Pen : Outline of blackened area & bottom lash liner
Maybelline - Eyestudio Gel liner (blackest black) : even coat for base color of blackened area
NYX - Jumbo Pencil (Milk) : top base color for highlight area
Milani - Liquif'eye metallic eye liner pencil (01 black) : water line & smudged down to meet bottom lash liner
Rimmel - Sexy Curves Mascara (003 extreme black) : top & bottom lashes
(not a big fan of this product, just used it cuz it didnt matter due to the fact that I was using falsies)
Daiso Voluminous Type False Lashes (#10)
Geek Chic Cosmetics - Solid Snake : All over lid (over black base)
Geek Chic Cosmetics - Mana Battery : Highlight above crease to brow (over white base)

So that's it from me! Thank you all for looking! Hope you guys are doing good. What color/s do you tend to rock when you wanna be noticed? Would you leave the house wearing this look? (& not on Halloween!) Later Gators!

Black & Blue

Ok.. so first things first. I have been dying hair & practicing cosmetology for over 15 years. Just to get it out of the way, YOU may have different results using these same products. I know what works for MY hair, and the opinions stated below are my own. If you like the results, and want to try them out, please be aware results may vary and you play at your own risk! :D (image of the sign in Rocky Horror comes to mind ) tee-hee! Thanks guys.

So on with it then. This is what I've used this time:
1 tint brush
1 tint bowl
2 pair gloves
1 RGC packette
1 packette Prism Lights blue lightener (bleach)
roughly 3.5 oz 40 Vol creme developer (peroxide) *please be aware anything stronger than 30 vol should typically NOT be used on the scalp
1 box Feria #21
1 bottle SE Hair Dye Blue Velvet

My hair is naturally dark brown, and when I bleach out it pulls INSANE amounts of red. As I wanted my blue color to be blue and not turn purple because of the gold tones bleach pulls with my natural hair color, I took 2 steps to ensure I had a cool toned result. #1. I used a blue based lightner & #2. I used RGC in my lightening mixture. I first sectioned off any hair I wanted blue, and mixed up the lightener. I applied the mixture to the sectioned off areas and covered those areas with foil.  I did NOT use bleach on my scalp, I applied to about 1/2" above the scalp & covered the rest of the hair shaft down to the scalp with black dye. I like the way this blends the colors together.
Feria #21 Starry Night
While I was waiting for my bleach to develop I mixed and applied the Feria hair dye, as per the included instructions. The color I used was #21, Starry Night. I've used this shade many times before and really like the blue base it has. I think a blue based black looks totally unnatural, but gives a bit of a shinyness? to the color that I really enjoy. And .. I'm really not going for "natural" here .. so its all good.  It covers greys nicely (not that I have any... haha.. right!) and has pretty nice staying power before it starts to dull.

I left my color & bleach to develop for roughly 50-60 mins and rinsed the black until the water was clear, before removing the foils and rinsing the bleached sections out as well.

The blue color I chose was from a dye brand I adore. Special Effects Hair Dye in Blue Velvet. I've always had such WONDERFUL results with them. I think I have used nearly every color they offer in their line as well. I'm a pretty big fan, and the only other "primary" color dyes I will use are made by Fudge. Believe me, I've tried them all..Again.. please keep in mind, this is only what I have personally experienced. My hair .. it likes Special Effects dye.

A bit about the dye based on personal opinion: 1) when it fades, it fades to pretty colors. 2) stays in a decent amount of time, as long as you know how to deal with color treated (demi/semi perm) dyes. 3) vibrant colors, (omg the yellow.. is SICK I got so many compliments on it when I used that one.) 4.) NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS! Yay!

And here are the results I ended up with.

So.. what do you think? Have you used Special Effects dye before? Do you feel comfortable coloring your hair at home, or do you get it done at a salon?
