Black & Virgin Rose

Hello Beautiful Beasties!

So todays post is one I've been meaning to get done for awhile now. ... By awhile I mean .. since the end of October. I know, I know. I've been a slacker. :(  Anyhoos..  I've gone and changed out the blue in my hair for a bright magenta and I just wanted to show you all the results. Back in March I did a Black & Blue post that describes how I dye my hair.  Please refer to that post for the methods I use to dye. I will however list the products I've used for this application down below.

This is what I've used:
1 tint brush
1 tint bowl
3 pair gloves
1 RGC packette
1 packette Prism Lights blue lightener (bleach)
roughly 3.5 oz 40 Vol creme developer (peroxide) *please be aware anything stronger than 30 vol should typically NOT be used on the scalp
1 box Garnier Nutrisse Ultra Color BL21 (Blue Black)
1 bottle SE Hair Dye Virgin Rose
Blue tinted bleach w/ RG corrector and 40 Vol developer
Just a note here on changing black dyes. The Feria I was using faded extraordinarily fast. Way quicker than the semi-perm blue dye, which is a shame. I went with Garnier this time after doing some research and this one seems to be holding up pretty good as it's been in now since October and has normal wear/minimal fading.
Processing Special Effects in Virgin Rose. Its okay for it to touch the newly dyed black hair because its so dark, it should only slightly tint that hair IF it even does that. But beware of using this process if your dying over ANY other color than dark black hair.
A note on Special Effects dyes: I still love them. This is the 3rd time in my life I've used Virgin Rose. Its SO pretty. A nice in between shade if you can't decide between pink & purple. Its also very vibrant without being too in your face against the black dye. I wish they had a wider range of colors to choose from, as I've been through them all quite a few times. But I'm glad they haven't lost sight of quality control. I think a lot of companies market their products for rebellious tweens/teens. Heck.. I use to change my hair color once every few weeks when I had UBER short hair. But I like to keep it longer and healthier now. And also, because I'm a bit older I really appreciate the quality of this product compared to ... Manic Panic for instance. They have LOVELY colors and SO many to pick from.. but the quality just isn't there. I've used them too many times and gotten something that the fade out color is some pukey gross color that makes me wish I'd never dyed it 3 weeks before. So when you're choosing your dye, make sure you're getting a decent quality product, not just the COLOR you love. :)

Ok so now onto the fun stuff.

Before: Can you believe I did this in MARCH! :D LOVE that staying power! My black looks brown though. :(
Bleached out/ freshly dyed black. My bleach job was sloppy. I have some unevenness.. but its okay!
Final Product. Aw .. isn't it pretty?
Thanks to my friend Adrian. He morphed my photos together into one awesome patriotic mashup. LoL!
Fin! :D Ack! Nakie face tho!
This is a look I called Violet Vampire. I did it for a NTMS weekly challenge. I will be posting it next time. Im still processing through the photos, but look for it soonly! I really like how it turned out!
Okay. So there's my most recent hair journey. I honestly would really like another hair cut soon. I want something like what I had done before. Kinda a shaggy bottom bob. LoL! I love texture! Maybe something right below the jaw line? Above my shoulders? Hrm.. what you do think? Thanks for looking and have a great day!

EOTD 12.16.11 Belated 1st Blogiversary

Good News Everyone! A new EOTD!

So yeah.. I missed my 1 year Blogiversary. /sigh.. (Bad Jeni, bad blogger!)  It was 2 days ago, but meh.. I've been not really feeling up to doing my makeup lately. I have depression and serious amounts of fatigue something fierce right now. I have a lot of negative personal things going on in my life at the moment, but what doesn't kill us makes us stronger... right? After applying my eyeshadow no more than 5 different times today... all were utter failures, I decided to do something purple. Its my favorite color and that in itself made me grin. Hysteric is freaking gorgeous! The turquoise sparkles in it are to die for. I also added some Paperdoll to not only help blend my colors toegther, but it has the prettiest dark purple sparklies in it also. :D  I think this turned out well considering I'm so out of practice lately.

What I used:
Sugarpill: Paperdoll - high crease area & middle lid to blend out
Sugarpill: Hysteric - Outer 1/2 lid, crease & 1/3 outer lower lash line
Brazen Cosmetics: Millennium  - Inner1/2 lid & 2/3 inner lower lash line
BFTE Cosmetics: Butt Naked - Highlight
Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Mascara: Very Black
Milani Infinite Liquid Eye Liner: 05 Everlast - liner & wing
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil: 01 Black - waterline

Turquoise Sparkles, how beautiful are you?!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you all are having a very happy holiday season! I would have really loved to have done a giveaway for all you beautiful beasties out there, but I'm struggling just to keep my home right now. It'll just have to wait till we are back on our feet. We have sacrifcied everything from Christmas to my medication just to stay afloat. Its a tough road don't get me wrong. I know we have ALL shared times of struggle, but things DO get better if we just hang in there. I am so thankful for many things. I just want to say how much I appreciate each and everyone of you who take the time out of your day to spend some time with me. I love you all! Here's hoping nothing but wonderful things for you and your loved ones in the new year! Cheers!

EOTD 11.14.11 Inspired by Siryn

Good News Everyone! A new EOTD!

So last Friday the lovely Siryn Von Steam posted the look she wore to this years Comikaze. Let me tell you. She looked abso-freaking-lutely stunning. I immedately fell in love with the look, and decided I would attempt to recreate it. Siryn has some of the most amazing talent I've seen out there, so this was a challenge for me. Not to mention I've never tried to RECREATE a look EXACTLY. I usually put my own spin on things and such. But I tried to get this one as close as possible. I didn't have the palette she used, but I did the best I could with what I had. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. :D

Please take a moment to visit her page to see the original look here : Siryn Von Steam Steampunk Look

What I used:
Wet n Wild LE Palette "Golden Goddess": Bottom Right Brown - Crease & 1/2 outside lower lash line
Psyche Minerals: Aerith - Crease (mixed on top of shade above and patted on top for glitter)
Wet n Wild LE Palette "Golden Goddess": Top Left Creamy Champagne - Highlight
Rock A Betty Beauty: Requiem - lid & 1/2 inside lower lash line
Wet n Wild LE Palette "Night Elf": Top Right Silver - Inner corner (tear duct)
Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Mascara: Very Black
Milani Liquif'eye Metallic Eye Liner Pencil: 01 Black - waterline
Just Pure Minerals: Black Cherry- lips

For some reason I thought u could see the glitter in this photo better?
I think this was a pretty okay first attempt. I needed a richer/ darker brown for my crease color I think. But I haven't really picked up too many fall colors yet, so I'm lacking in that department. I think this is definitely something I will try to do again to try to master. I think its perfect for sweater weather, and goes wonderful with darker eye shades. Thanks for reading :) Hope you are all having a great week!

So I hope you all are enjoying all the fantastic Halloween looks out there. I know I am! I love this time of year. So today's question is : What was the best costume you've ever had & why? I think one of my all time favorites had to be when I was growing up. I was probably around 9 or so, and it was a homemade gypsy/ fortune teller costume. I wish I had a photo of it! It was wonderful!  :D Thanks for looking beauties! Have a great day!

Thanks so much for reading guys! I love the fall. One of the best things about fall is that there is finally something to watch on TV again. Is there some gem out there I should check out?

NTMS : Punk Rock & Roll Challenge - Jeni Only

Never Too Much Sparkle Facebook Group Challenge:
Theme:
Punk Rock and Roll!!

For Challenges I'm not going to list off products used. It will just be a photo entry for the most part and how I was influenced by the challenge. If you are curious about a particular item I used, please feel free to comment below and I'll do my best to answer!

My influence:

I decided to go with the first band that came to mind for me. The Misfits. I grew up with them. They very much influenced me as a teen, and I continue to adore them. I chose my look to be based on Jerry Only's signature skellie makeup. Because it's on me.. I've called this look "Jeni Only" :D

EOTD 10.07.11 Candy Corn

Good News Everyone! A New EOTD!

Yeah.. I know you've seen this kinda thing a million times before. Well.. I have too, but I've never done it. So here's my version of the pretty candy corn eyes. The liner wing is suppose to represent the curved bottoms of the candy corns, I think it looks neat close up (which was how I was applying my makeup with my magnified mirror) but.. I think from a distance the wing isn't so cute. I think I just over all prefer a pointier wing. The idea of why its there, and why its curved like that kinda gets lost from further a way.. but oh well. Now I know.. and knowing is half the battle. Go Joe!

What I used:
2FSI - Primer
Evil Shades Spectrum Pot: Vitrum - white base
BFTE: Crystal - inner corner/ inner 1/3 lid
Evil Shades: Mad People - mid 1/3 lid
BFTE: Lemon - outer 1/3 lid
Maybelline Expert Eyes Quad: Urban Scene (White matte from top right) - Highlight
ELF Liquid Eyeliner: #00908 black - eyeliner + wing
Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeliner pencil : 656A (White) - waterline
Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Mascara: Very Black
Brazen Cosmetics Lipglaze: Make Out (I put it over a clear lipgloss so it's more opaque than this shows here)

Thanks for takin' a peak at my candy coated eyes today! I think my  favorite Halloween candy has to be black jelly beans. I just adore them. Sugary anise/ black licorice has to be one of my all time favorite smells also. Anyone out there know of any perfumeries that carry something that is riddled heavy with sweet sugary anise notes? What is YOUR favorite Halloween candy?

EOTD 10.05.11 Moist Manson

Good News Everyone! A new EOTD!

Today's EOTD is one that was inspired by ... yeah... halloween! :D Im kinda bummed the beautiful purple sparkles didn't show up at all in Manson. I wonder why? I think I need some sort of glitter sticking medium down first?

What I used :
TFSI- Primer
My Pretty Zombie: Moist - all over lid
Black Rose Minerals: Manson - crease
Evil Shades: Steele Green - inner corner & up to highlight
Maybelline Expert Eyes Quad: Urban Scene (White matte from top right) - Highlight
ELF Liquid Eyeliner: #00908 black - 1/4 line top eyeliner +wing
Ardell Accents Lashes: #305
Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Mascara: Very Black
Evil Shades: Corset - Lips

I love the fall. I'm so happy its finally here! :D The leaves are changing to pretty colors and everything is a bit chilly and grey and wet! So do any of you have any ideas or suggestions on what to use for glittery shadows? I've heard about Pixie Epoxy and just can't seem to get my hands on any, what about that L.A. Splash stuff has anyone tried it out? Let me know thanks guys! :D I know I don't do full special effects Halloween makeup.. but would you guys like to see more dark/dramatic "wearable" makeup like this?  Thanks for reading you beautiful beasties! /hugs all around!

Black Rose Minerals Swatches & Review

Good News Everyone!

Today I have another review & swatch-o-rama for you! I'd like to share with you my love for the newest shadows I've purchased from Black Rose Minerals. I started making a wish list, and a couple months later, Rosa had a sale and I decided this would be a great time to try on a few shades! :D
What I got: (You Pick! 12 Sample Jars)
Manson
Phantom
Ocean Potion
Ultraviolence
Alpine
Pegasus
Denver
Hi-Ho Silver
Mome Rath
Medusa
Stardust (Glitter)
...and of course.... Confused!!

Makeup Pr0n: (All over elf eyelid primer:sheer)

Click for more detailed pretties (if you dare.)
Will not be held responsible for any addictions or random outbursts of squeeeeeeing!

Packaging: All my jars came individually sealed/shrink wrapped.  All pigments which are not lip safe are labeled on the bottom of each jar. I thought that was nice, so I didn't have to look it up if I wanted to mix the color with something else. But the ingredients were listed on the side, and when I removed the shrink wrap, they ripped or came off with the wrap. I think I'd prefer the ingredients on the bottom as well as the "not lip safe" warning. But if I'm not mistaken she is in the works on getting new ingredient labels for the bottom.
Sealed jars with ingredient label on the side

Pretty Tape & Bubble Mailer
Shipping: Came very quick considering she was having a sale! Mailed in a bubble mailer. I had NO spillage. Everything came wrapped very securely and I absolutely adored her attention to detail. She personalized my order. These things are time consuming, yet she made sure to add all kinds of cute stickers and drawings to my order. I love that her creativity overflows into her package as well as her products!
Her business card, hand written TY note, stickers & samples in the package with Rose Stamp. Shadows came sealed in baggie, and then tightly wrapped black tissue paper. Tre' Chic!

Quality of shadows: They all seem to go on pretty nicely. Especially Phantom, Hi-Ho Silver & Pegasus! They are so soft! The color payoff for all of the shadows is really nice, aside from Ultraviolence, which I think is meant to be a faint color. On my fair skin, its harder to see without being used wet/foiled than I thought it would be. I have very little fall out with most of them. My Mome Rath is a little spotty in application. The only real "issue" I had was with Medusa.. and it just had appeared to be a brighter green in the photos online than in person. But I think its the nature of the shadow, because MY own photograph of it is a bit brighter than it is in person as well. Overall, these are extremely beautiful, sparkly shadows, in fun colors.

This was on the other side of my tissue wrapped shadows! How awesome is that?! (Sorry Rosa! Now your artwork is up for the whole interwebs to see! LoL!)

Color Variety: She's got quite a large selection of colors to pick from. I know she does LE collections as well. So there are new things being added all the time.

Customer Service/ Communication: I talk to Rosa all the time (personal conversation, not buisness related) on Twitter. I asked her for her personal favorites on Twitter, and decided to get Ocean Potion and Alpine on her suggestion. Aside from that I never needed to contact her, as my ordering went seamlessly. I ordered, got a confirmation my order was received, and then got a confirmation a few days later that my order was shipping and it arrived shortly thereafter. I feel that with all the ways shes made herself available for questions/comments/concerns she's quite reachable. But because I didn't utilize her customer service, I'm unable to comment on it directly.

Favorite Colors: Confused, Alpine, Phantom, Denver

BONUS LOOK! (Watch for this look soon in an EOTD for MORE photos!)
BRM Confused (Lid & inner corner), BRM Teddy (outer V/crease), Psyche Minerals Aerith (inner crease)
Summary: I'm extremely happy with my purchase and all the colors I picked out. I think with as much creativity as she has, and the genuinely sweet person she is, her business will take her anywhere she wants to go. I love the Gothic branding she uses and the thought that goes into the names of her shades. Now..if you are wondering about why I like confused so much.. colors "like" Confused, generally aren't my thing. It's not loud, or bright, or crazy in any way. Maybe that's a reason I love it so much?! It's different than the things I usually wear. Its ridiculously WEARABLE and SO sparkly, it makes my eye color pop and eyes sparkle with the pigment. Its safe for all ages and what I would call neutral. I wear it all the time, and with the way I'm wearing it, gonna have to buy a big one soon!

So did you pick up anything from the BRM sale? Do you have any BRM colors? Whats your favorite BRM shade? Thanks for reading and watch out for lots of new EOTD in the near future and an Evil Shades review coming up that includes 10 eyeshadows, 7 lippies & 4 blushes!
